Author, licensed acupuncturist, auricular medicine specialist, massage therapist, and Executive Director, Lisa K.Y. Wong, L. Ac, founded the Center For Healing by Design, Inc. with a passion for awakening others to the true power of the body to heal itself. After earning a B.S. in Computer Science from U.C. Davis, Lisa worked as a software engineer for global technology companies such as Motorola, Nokia, and Philips. But, driven by an innate desire to help others, she soon recognized that her heart needed to pursue learning the greater value of a balanced life and a mind-body approach to long-term health. She returned to school at Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, California and obtained a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She also studied with Dr. Li-Chun Huang, O.M.D., the founder of auricular medicine. As an adept licensed acupuncturist, Lisa then worked at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center as a staff acupuncturist and even now continues to serve as a subject-matter expert for the California Acupuncture Board.

Leading with Compassion
Lisa’s desire to support the health of others bloomed early. She emigrated to the U.S. from China when she was 10, and by middle school, she was visiting patients in nursing homes through an American Red Cross program. Nowadays, Lisa volunteers at community clinics sponsored by the international medical team of Tzu Chi, a humanitarian non-profit organization similar to the Red Cross, that provides free healthcare to those in financial need. She also partners with El Camino Hospital, the most technologically advanced hospital in Silicon Valley, by providing acupressure services to its employees, visitors and patients.

Experienced Adventurist
Lisa has taken time out of her successful life to traverse the world, testing her limits and exploring new territories. In 2006, she walked from one coast of England to the other — 209 total miles — in 16 days. In the 2009, she traveled across Australia and scuba-dived in the Great Barrier Reef and Ningaloo Reef. In the summer of 2010, Lisa completed the Sequoia Century ride, a 100-mile bicycle tour, climbing 9,000 feet in 12 hours. Not long after that, she rode across Switzerland in 5 weeks on a tandem bike with a friend.

She loves to teach people about the intelligent ‘internet’ within their own bodies, a powerful force that can help heal what ails us. Her life mission is to help people of all ages and all nationalities discover their body’s inherent powers of self-healing and engage simple self-care practices that promote health and prevent disease.
